Education

The Rail Manufacturing CRC supports PhD students through a number of programs that benefit the rail industry by increasing innovation and applied research outcomes. Research projects undertaken by PhD students are conducted on industry-focused commercial projects seeking to address key technical challenges that face the rail industry.

What should the rail industry be doing to attract new talent?

Rail Manufacturing CRC PhD Scholarship Program

The Rail Manufacturing CRC partnered with our participant universities to offer a PhD Scholarship Program for students working on rail research aligned to one of the Centre’s three research program themes. The scholarships were funded 50:50 by the Rail Manufacturing CRC and the university.

Rail Manufacturing CRC Postgraduate Internship Program

In 2017, the Rail Manufacturing CRC, in conjunction with the TrackSAFE Foundation, funded a 12-week pilot internship program for two Queensland-based PhD students to participate in paid work placements in Queensland Rail and Aurizon.
